Moisturise first
Fragrance clings to oil far better than to dry skin. Apply an unscented body lotion or a thin layer of Vaseline to your pulse points 60 seconds before spraying. You'll instantly add 2 – 3 hours to the wear time.
Spray on pulse points
The wrists, inner elbows, the side of the neck below the ear, and the chest are the spots where blood vessels run close to the skin. Body heat there gently warms the fragrance through the day, lifting heart and base notes hour by hour.
Hold the bottle 10 – 15 cm away
Close enough to land a real dose, far enough to fan into a fine mist. Spraying too close drowns one spot; spraying from arm's length wastes most of the spray into the air. A loose two-finger gap from the skin is just right.
Never rub — let it dry
Rubbing the wrists together crushes the top notes and shortens the dry-down. Let each spray air-dry naturally; the fragrance settles into the skin in about 60 seconds and reveals its true character.
Layer for longer wear
If a brand offers a matching body oil, shower gel, or hair mist, use them together. A light fragranced base under your main scent can extend the wear time by half a day and adds depth without overwhelming.
Less is more, especially for oud
Concentrated attars and oud-led perfumes are designed to be applied in tiny amounts — one dab on the back of the wrist is often enough. If people lean in to ask what you're wearing, you've used the right amount. If they lean away, that's the cue to wear less.
